WARNING

Never EVER in any circumstances look at the Sun directly or through an optical instrument. permanent eyesight damage will occur

We can now offer Solar Observing. The Society funds have been used to purchase a Solar Scope, this very specialised piece of equipment enables safe viewing of the Sun.  It also means we can offer daylight observing sessions in the Summer months.

Visitors and Guests to the Observatory

The Aylesbury Astronomical Society actively promotes astronomy to groups in the local area and offers observing and educational sessions at the Winchendon Observatory or your own meeting place.  If you would like to arrange a session for your group, please contact the Society directly. We will try to tailor our sessions to your particular needs, so please let us know your requirements.

Availability is limited and all requests are discussed at our monthly committee meeting, it follows therefore you may not get an immediate reply to your request.  We will acknowledge your email and confirm the arrangements in due course.

We can accommodate group numbers up to 12 and we must insist on car sharing due to the limited car parking.

Please ensure you read our “Guidance For Visitors” document before setting off.

We do not charge for these sessions; our members do so at their own cost and because they enjoy it.  However, if you feel you would like to make a small donation towards our costs and ongoing upkeep, this would be appreciated.
